Hair science, simply
Why does my hair frizz?
The cuticle is made of overlapping scales. When they lift, humidity gets underneath and the hair swells unevenly. That is frizz. Smoothing services work by laying those scales flat again.
What makes hair shiny?
Light reflecting off a flat, even surface. Hair with a smooth cuticle bounces light back in one direction, so it looks glossy. Rough, lifted scales scatter it, so the hair looks dull.
Why is bleached hair so fragile?
Lightening uses oxidizers that break the bonds giving hair its strength, and it leaves tiny holes in the cortex where pigment used to be. The hair becomes porous and weaker, which is why it needs repair rather than the strongest smoothing.
Is heat bad for hair?
Uncontrolled heat is. In a smoothing service the temperature and the number of iron passes are set for your hair after the diagnosis. That control is the difference between sealing the hair and scorching it.
What is porosity, and why does it matter?
It is how easily water moves in and out of the hair. It decides which products work, how long a treatment lasts, and whether hair can take heat at all.
Treatments
Which treatment do I need?
That is decided after a diagnosis. As a rough guide: curly hair that never stays smooth points to nanoplasty, wave and frizz point to keratin, and lightened or blonde hair points to Hair Botox or cold restoration.
Why can I not have nanoplasty on lightened hair?
Lightened hair has already been through a chemical process and has less to give. In this studio nanoplasty is not offered on it. Hair Botox and cold restoration do the job without that risk.
How long does a result last?
It depends on the service and on your hair. Nanoplasty grows out from the roots. Keratin and Hair Botox fade gradually with washing. Mila gives you a realistic range once she has seen your hair.
Is Hair Botox related to the injectable?
No. It is a common name for a bond repair treatment. There is no botulinum toxin involved and nothing is injected.
Can I combine services in one visit?
Yes. That is what total reconstruction is: cold restoration, then Hair Botox or keratin, then a scalp peel, in that order.
Booking and payment
How do I book?
WhatsApp is the fastest way. Instagram and TikTok messages work too. Send photos of your hair and your colour history with the first message.
Do I need a deposit?
Long appointments are held with a deposit. The amount and the rules are confirmed when you book, and they are set out on the booking policy page.
Do you work outside Austin?
Treatments are done in Austin and surrounding areas only: Westlake, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Georgetown and Pflugerville. Education for salons runs across Texas.
Is the consultation counted toward the treatment?
It can be. Mila confirms that when she quotes your case.
Care at home
What do I do in the first days?
Keep it simple. Hair down and dry, no tight ties and no clips, and a gentle sulfate free shampoo when you do wash.
Will the pool ruin my treatment?
Chlorine and salt water shorten any smoothing result. Rinse straight after swimming and keep the length protected.
Do I have to buy a shelf of products?
No. You get a short list of what actually matters for your hair, and that is the list.
Education for salons
Is this a keratin course?
No. It is advanced smoothing education plus service implementation: diagnostics, technique, difficult cases, and getting the service into your menu and your pricing.
Is the training state approved?
It is private professional education. It is not TDLR continuing education and it is not state approved. Every stylist who takes part receives a Certificate of Completion.
Where does training happen?
In your salon, in Austin, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Demo days and guest specialist days run in the Austin area only.
